The idea to create the USSR Academy of Medical Sciences (AMS) was born in 1932, but its creation has occurred in the period from June 1943 to June 1944. AMS was established as a structure subordinated to the USSR Ministry of Public Health (MPH) and designed to solve both theoretical and practical problems of Soviet public health, including wartime issues. A key role in the creation of the AMS played MPH (G.A. Miterev, V.V. Parin, N.N. Burdenko), the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (of bolsheviks) (AS Shcherbakov) and Council of People's Commissars (K.E. Voroshilov ). In June 1944 the AMS was established de jure; but its creation de facto has been scheduled for the 2nd half of 1944
