VACCINATION AS A COVID-19 CHALLENGE

In the current context of the COVID-19 pandemic, active work is being done around the world to treat patients, develop medicines and vaccines for the treatment and prevention of a new infectious disease. In our country, 14 research centers are involved in the development of 10 vaccine prototypes. Most developers are at about the same stage - conducting preclinical research. Human trials were first started by the Gammalei center for epidemiology and Microbiology of two vaccines developed jointly with the Ministry of defense (48th Central research Institute of the Ministry of defense). This article provides an overview of foreign experience in developing the vaccine, describes the ongoing activities for the development, testing and registration, as well as the production of this COVID-19 vaccine in the Russian Federation, touches on topical issues of creating a coronavirus vaccine and the specifics of phasing out tests on animals and humans.
