Using the example of the Ivanovo region, the analysis of the dynamics of the male population over the past twenty years, including in different age groups, revealed trends in the life expectancy of men, assessed the activity of men in registering marriages and divorces, indicated the main causes of male mortality, etc. The current trends in the demographic development of the male population are revealed: the number of men in the region is decreasing annually, and what is very important, the number of men of working and reproductive age is decreasing, the life expectancy of men is decreasing, the male population is aging. The current state programs to support men in various spheres of life are considered. Based on the results of the analysis of these research directions, recommendations for the conservation behavior of the male population and support for the institution of fatherhood are proposed.
