He held several leadership positions in the Far Eastern Republic, headed the Main Administration of Scientific and Educational Institutions of the People’s Commissariat for Enlightenment of the RSFSR (Glavnauka), the All-Union Society for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries (VOKS), and the publishing house “Great Soviet Encyclopedia.” Petrov authored numerous works on the history of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Soviet science, and notable memoirs.F.
