Due to the increasing prevalence, gestational diabetes mellitus as a cause increases morbidity and mortality among children and mothers. The aim of the study was to study the condition of newborns in women with gestational diabetes mellitus. Materials and methods. A retrospective cohort observational study of medical records of 2000 women with gestational diabetes mellitus was performed. Outcomes. In patients with gestational diabetes mellitus, pregnancy was complicated by threatening early and late miscarriages, isthmic-cervical insufficiency, anemia, chronic arterial hypertension, various hypertensive disorders, placental insufficiency, fetal growth restriction syndrome, antenatal fetal death, diabetic fetopathy, and premature birth. Labor was complicated by weakness of labor, discoordination of labor, clinically narrow pelvis, and operative delivery. Newborns were characterized by more frequent formation of congenital malformations, pyelectasia of the kidneys. Conclusion. Gestational diabetes mellitus is closely associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes, with clear evidence that exposure to maternal diabetes in the womb has long-term adverse effects on offspring.</abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>gestational diabetes mellitus, newborn, pregnancy complications</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>гестационный сахарный диабет, новорожденный, осложнения беременности</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><body></body><back><ref-list><ref id="B1"><label>1.</label><mixed-citation>Батрак Г.
