Abstract
In the presented work, the issues of insurance medical literacy of patients are considered — a functional subsection of the concept of literacy in health issues. Many citizens who have compulsory and/or voluntary health insurance policies do not have the knowledge to understand and effectively use their insurance programs. The article presents a review of foreign sociological studies of a high degree of representativeness, reflecting the level of insurance medical literacy of patients and the need for its systematic formation.
